Peng Qingyu Won National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award in Composite

Nowadays, the 1st “National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation in Composite” set up by CSCM announced the final result. Doctor Peng Qingyu, instructed by professor He Xiaodong in School of Astronautics won the excellent doctoral dissertation award. It is known that the objects are the dissertations of people who gained doctoral degree of majors relevant to composite in China from 2014 to 2016. And there are 5 dissertations won the award in total, with the other 3 won the nomination.

The title of the dissertation of doctor Peng Qingyu is “Hierarchical Design of Composites Reinforcement and Study on Its Interfacial Enhancement Mechanism”. For the bottleneck problem of the weakness of reinforcement and interface of resin matrix composite as well as the dispersion difficulty in nano-carbon reinforcement, after the design for the composites reinforcement based on hierarchical theory, the dissertation presented the notion of “nano-carbon hierarchical reinforcement’, gained many kinds of nano-carbon hierarchical reinforcement structures, realized the hierarchical “chemical bonding” design concept, revealed the enhancement mechanism of new hierarchical reinforcement in composites and enhanced the properties of polymer matrix composites. The technique has successfully applied to composite high-pressure vessel, providing technical reserves for the development of composites in special environments.

Peng Qingyu, instructed by professor He Xiaodong, finished the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral study continuously in School of Astronautics since 2004. From 2014, after graduation with doctoral degree, he was employed as a vice professor in HIT, focusing on the study of the integration of structure and function of nano-carbon composites, and relevant achievements have been published in outstanding journals in material such as Advanced Materials, Applied Materials & Interfaces, and Nanoscale with more than 1000 citations and H-index of 17. He also gained many prizes and get selected in lists such as “CAST Young Talents Supporting Project’, first prize of provincial natural science, “New Academic Researcher Award” of Ministry of Education, “excellent doctoral dissertation in HIT”, the technological innovative award of the 1st HIT development bank as well as the training plan of basic research talents of HIT. In the meanwhile, as the person in charge, he is also responsible for projects of the Natural Science Foundation of China, CASIC Science and Technology Fund, first-level and special subsidy of China Postdoctoral Science Foundation and the first-level subsidy of Heilongjiang Postdoctoral Science Foundation.
