On November 3rd, 2017 Prof. Chai Jijie, full professor of Cologne University, Cologne, Germany and winner of the Alexander von Humboldt Chair International Research Award, visited HIT as a guest of the "Forum of Scientists." He gave a report entitled "Structural Biology Research on Plant Kinase Receptors ".

In the report, Professor Chai Jijie introduced related structural biology research of the plant kinase receptor. The plant kinase receptor family is composed of a large class of transmembrane proteins that play an important role in many biological processes such as development, growth and immunity. Professor Chai Jijie explained the molecular mechanism of mutual recognition of plant kinase receptors and ligands in structural biology. Professor Chai’s report blended humor and cutting edge information to the delight of the faculty and students who were present. He concluded his report with an opportunity for questions and an exchange of views with both teachers and students.

The leader of the School of Life Science and Technology presided over the meeting and awarded the appointment of keynote speaker for the "Forum of Scientists" to Professor Chai Jijie.
