Recently, HIT’s Individual Cardiovascular Team won the championship at the Cardiovascular OCT Vulnerable Plaque Recognition Technology Challenge sponsored by the Chinese Conference on Computer Vision (CCCV 2017). The team consisted of five students from HIT’s School of Computer Science and Technology. Team members were: Lu Gongning and Dong Suyu, doctoral students and Shu Lei, Sun Guanxiong and Yan Cong, postgraduate students. They were under the guidance of Professor Wang Kuanquan from the School of Computer Science and Technology.
The artificial intelligence contest was the first held by the Chinese Conference on Computer Vision (CCCV) for the field of medical engineering. The contest’s purpose was to promote research on automatic identification of the position of vulnerable plaque in cardiovascular OCT image sequences by using the most recent technology. This will improve the application of intelligent image recognition technology in cardiovascular OCT and facilitate the effective integration of computer vision and clinical medicine. In addition it has the potential to further integrate academia and industry, improving the research level of computer vision. 76 teams from various universities, including Beijing University and Qinghua University, participated in the contest. A total of 18 teams “scored” after the rigorous test in the unified computing platform. HIT’s Individual Cardiovascular Team had the winning score of 0.867 points. In doing so they far outscored other teams!
Excellent Performance at the Contest
