On December 7th, 2017 the Central Communist Youth League announced the projects which won the 2017 China Youth Scientific and Technological Innovation Awards.  The HRT motorcade from HIT Weihai campus was one of 50 teams awarded the “Xiaoping Scientific and Technological Innovation Team.”

On the occasion of the 100th birthday of Deng Xiaoping in 2004, The Central Committee of the Communist Party, the China Youth Federation, the China Students’ Federation, and the China Children’s and Youth Work Coordination Committee were entrusted with establishing the China Youth Scientific and Technological Innovation Award.  The award is funded by an endowment from the late Deng Xiaoping, according to his wishes.  In 2014, the Fund established the “Xiaoping Scientific and Technological Innovation Team” project.  Its purpose is to bring about transformation by giving awards to those undergraduate scientific and technological teams who are outstanding in academic research and science and technology competitions.

The HRT motorcade was founded in 2009. It has a fuel-oil formula racing team, an electric formula racing team, a Baja motocross racing team and a driverless racing team.  Over 200 students are involved.  In line with the HIT school motto, the HRT motorcade gradually developed a unique team spirit.  They have successfully designed and manufactured 13 formula racing cars and three Baja racing cars. The HRT motorcade has received more than 70 awards, including awards for racing car design, high-speed obstacle avoidance, ANSYS design and lightweight design.  In 2016, the HRT electric formula racing team and the HRT Baja racing team were each ranked number one in China.  The HRT motorcade became the first “back-to-back winner” in the history of China undergraduate formula racing.  In 2017, representing China, the HRT Baja racing team, electric formula racing team and fuel-oil formula racing team competed with America and Japan. They received the third place award for racing car design and first place in the efficiency test!  CONGRATULATIONS!
