The “2017 ASRTU Get Together” was held in Xi'an” from November 21st to the 24th, 2017. This exciting gathering was hosted by the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities. It was jointly sponsored by Harbin Institute of Technology, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) and Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
HIT faculty and students took part in ASRTU opening day festivities. This included a series of colorful events such as a grand entrance into NPU, a launching ceremony for a series of ASRTU culture books titled, On The Day of That Year. In addition HIT participated in the Second Composite Battle World Cup and the ASRTU Six-party Talks.
More than 120 contestants and experts from 16 teams from China, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Australia, Egypt, Myanmar and other countries took part in the Second Composite Battle World Cup. Teams from Kazan National Research Technology University in Russia, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Belarusian National Academy of Sciences, Harbin Institute of Technology, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics each won first prize in various individual events.
The launching ceremony for the series of ASRTU culture books - On The Day of That Year - was held at the Northwestern Polytechnical University. Mr. Melnikova, Counsel of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Beijing and Director of the Russian Cultural Center of Beijing, along with Mr. Wan Xiaopeng, Vice President of Northwestern Polytechnical University attended the ceremony. Mr. Melnikova is the third to serve in the rotating presidency of ASRTU. On The Day of That Year is a masterpiece by the Editorial Board of the ASRTU Culture Series. It follows the Memorial album entitled ASRTU in the Anti-Fascist War and Harbin Complex of a Russian Man. With nearly 560,000 words, it contains 30 articles from 6 professors such as Prof. Zhang Zijie, Prof. Zhang Zehua and Prof. Wang Zhongqi from 11 Chinese ASRTU universities. It collects the learning experiences and perceptions of an older generation of experts and scholars during their stay in Russia (Soviet Union), as well as younger teachers and students from Chinese universities of ASRTU.
On November 22nd, the Xi'an Consensus was approved during ASRTU Six-party Talks. The Consensus proposes the sustainable development of ASRTU with mechanisms which will build up ASRTU. It foresees the enhancement of interaction and the exchange of technological innovation and personnel between China and Russia. The permanent secretariat of ASRTU declared that South China University of Technology and Urals Federal University will officially assume the fourth rotating presidency, for a term of two years (2017 to 2019). ASRTU’s permanent presidency entities (Harbin Institute of Technology and Bauman Moscow State Technical University) and the third rotating presidency (Northwestern Polytechnical University and Moscow Aeronautical Institute) summarized the past achievements of ASRTU and shared this information with members of the incoming fourth rotating presidency.
Representatives from HIT’s School of Astronautics, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Chemical Engineering and Technology and International Cooperation Department were in attendance for all activities.
