Recently, the HIT-led national Key R & D program "Nanomaterials and Technologies for Advanced Treatment of Trace Toxic Pollutants in Drinking Water in Rural Areas" was initiated. We are now approaching a four-year implementation phase. This program is the first special "nanotechnology" project undertaken by our school.
Various leaders and academicians attended the meeting. Among them were YAN Jinding, Director of the high-tech R & D Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, XIE Sishen, an academician from the Institute of Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and members of the Experts Group from Peking University, China University of Science and Technology. In addition, HAN Jiecai, HIT Vice President was present.
During the meeting, Professor FENG Yujie gave a general report on the program. He is the program leader, Chief Expert, and Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Urban Water Resources and Water Environment. Each of the four sub-project leaders presented reports on the program’s implementation plan. The Experts Group gave full affirmation to the research goals, the content and the feasibility of the research plan. They put forward constructive suggestions on the follow-up work of the program and key scientific and technical issues to be solved.
Led by our school, "Nanomaterials and Technologies for Advanced Treatment of Trace Toxic Pollutants in Drinking Water in Rural Areas" is jointly sponsored by Nanjing University of Technology, Hefei Institute of Material Sciences under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Ecological Environment Research Center. The program’s purpose is to solve the country's important environmental challenges, with an emphasis on solving the major needs of people's livelihood through advanced scientific and technological developments in the fields of environmental protection and the construction of a national green civilization.
