Recently, China's Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Industry Innovation Alliance was formally established. As one of two universities amongst the 18 initial sponsors and vice president of the alliance, our university was invited to participate in the establishment of the general assembly.

Wan Gang, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, minister of science and technology, and Chinese Science and Technology Association chairman, Miao Wei, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology minister, Xiao Yaqing, SASAC director, Li Xiaogong, party secretary and China Academy of Engineering Bureau, Nur Bekri, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission, and director of the National Energy Administration, and China Hydrogen Energy Strategic Alliance, and more than 200 representatives of various local governments and industry attended the inaugural meeting of the alliance. Vice President of HIT, Han Jiecai, attended the meeting on behalf of our school.

The conference chose a list of candidates for the chairman and vice chairman of the alliance, as well as a list of candidates for the Secretary General and deputy secretary general, the alliance consultant, the strategy committee and the expert committee.

HIT will continue to strengthen the construction of strong relevant disciplines such as energy, materials, chemical, electrical, mechanical and other related subjects. Our school will actively participate as the alliance works to promote collaborative innovation, resource integration, application and information exchange of the Chinese hydrogen and fuel cell industry.  This will enhance the international competitiveness of hydrogen energy and fuel cell technology in China and accelerate the contribution of Chinese characteristics to the hydrogen and fuel cell industry.

With the development of hydrogen energy application technology and the increasing pressure of global climate change, the development of the hydrogen energy industry has attracted much attention world-wide. Hydrogen and fuel cell technology are important innovative technologies to promote the development of our economy and society. They will help to achieve low carbon emissions and environmental protection. Many governments have published hydrogen energy and fuel cell development strategy roadmaps. Developed countries such as the United States, Japan and Germany have increased their plans for hydrogen energy to the national energy strategy level. China has established an interdisciplinary, cross industry and cross sectoral national hydrogen energy industry alliance to promote the collaborative innovation, resource integration, promotion and application and communication promotion of China's hydrogen and fuel cell industry. It will help to enhance the market maturity and international competitiveness of China's hydrogen and fuel cell technology. It also demonstrates that China's hydrogen and fuel cell industry has entered a new era of standardization and accelerated development. The process of building a Chinese characteristic hydrogen energy society will increase in quality and speed.
