On the afternoon of January 5th, 2018 Prof. Lü Jian, a member of the French Academy of Sciences and Vice President of City University of Hong Kong, visited the "Scientists’ Forum" and delivered a report titled “New Developments in Structural Nanomaterials: Principles, Preparations, Performance, and Their Applications in Aerospace. " HIT Vice President, Ren Nanqi met with Academician Lu Jian and presented him an award as the guest speaker of the "Scientists’ Forum".
In the report, Academician Lu Jian explained in detail the importance of developing high-strength, high-toughness materials. He also introduced the preparation techniques of high-strength, high-toughness metal materials and the latest achievements in 3D printing. He encouraged teachers in the field to dare to challenge the academic authority, to have scientific research and innovation consciousness and cultivate their original innovation abilities. He also encouraged them to explore basic laws in various aspects of theoretical methods, structural attributes, and functional applications in light of rapid development in material disciplines and emerging disciplines. He suggested that we should propose efficient research directions and programs for overall planning and develop transformative technologies to improve China's research levels. As we do this, we will not only catch up but go on to become world leaders in the field. He challenged all present to be courageous and take social responsibility; to learn science, use science, have a scientific attitude, love science and respect science. In doing so we can create a brighter future.
Academician Lu Jian visited the Institute of Composite Materials and Structures, part of the Academy of Aerospace. He held discussions with both teachers and students. During the discussion, he conducted in-depth exchanges on the application of multi-steady, high-toughness and high-strength materials.
