On the afternoon of March 30th, 2018 a video conference for the preparation of a joint campus for Harbin Institute of Technology and St. Petersburg State University was held in Room 101 of the Administrative Building. HIT vice-president, Ren Nanqi, and Sergey Andelyushen, Deputy Head of International Affairs for St. Petersburg State University attended the meeting.
Ren pointed out that our two universities have demonstrated comprehensive cooperation in such fields as cultivating talents, scientific research, academic exchanges and more with the support from the people's government of Heilongjiang Province. We have established 4 joint research centers. We have representatives from HIT at St. Petersburg State University, who have laid a solid foundation for the efficient preparation for the construction of the Joint Campus. It is anticipated that both universities will further deepen their cooperation through the joint research center. In the future they will launch joint training programs for masters and doctoral students, and accelerate the construction of the College of Arts and Science by Harbin Institute of Technology and St. Petersburg State University.
Sergei Andelyushen expressed his gratitude for the efforts HIT has shown in promoting cooperation between our two universities. He lauded progress made in fields such as the development of high-level talents and scientific cooperation. His hope is that the two universities will negotiate as soon as possible the details for the joint training program for master's and doctoral students, and strive to begin the enrollment process for the College of Arts and Science established by Harbin Institute of Technology and St. Petersburg State University.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged in-depth views on the establishment of “specialty directions,” a joint recruiting committee, degrees to be granted, a scholarship support policy, and the exchange of faculty members for the College of Arts and Science. A preliminary consensus was reached.
Representatives and leaders from the International Cooperation Department, the Graduate School as well as the Institute of Science, Technology and Industry of HIT attended the meeting.
