Recently the Ministry of Education announced the selection list for the first group of “National University Huang Danian Type Faculty Team”. The faculty team from HIT’s Research Institute of Satellite Technology of our university was chosen to be included as part of this prestigious list.
The Research Institute of Satellite Technology has formed an excellent team led by Cao Xibin, a distinguished professor and Changjiang Scholar. The team is composed primarily of middle-aged and young academic teachers. It is a team stable in core, full of vigor and innovation. Together they demonstrate team spirit, “synergy consciousness”, and problem-solving capabilities. The Research Institute is a leader in the field of aerospace, national defense. It has developed independently small satellites famous for “six battles and six victories”. The Research Institute is an important base for China’s research on satellite technology innovation, the development and application of small satellites, and the training of aerospace high-level personnel. The Research Institute was selected as an innovation team by the of Ministry of Education in the areas of national defense science and technology. It has been approved as a key discipline laboratory for national defense, a key laboratory of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and a national joint engineering laboratory. The faculty team has also received many awards. Among them are: the "Worker Pioneer" award from the All-China Federation of Trade Union (ACFTU), the National Innovation Award, the National Model Teacher Prize, the Provincial May 1st Labor Award, the Provincial Outstanding Communist Award, the Provincial Youth May 4th Medal, "the Grass-Roots Party Organization Outstanding Model”, “Outstanding Scientific and Technological Team "," and the advanced Group for Moral Values Establishment and People Cultivation” award.
For implementing the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the CPC, and for carrying out the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping based on the advanced deeds of Comrade Huang Danian, the Ministry of Education launched the National University Huang Danian Type Faculty Team Creation Activity in 2017. The aims of this activity are to guide all teachers to continuously learn from Comrade Huang Danian continuously, to help team building in forming a long-term mechanism, and to promote esteem for the model while striving for advancement to become the norm for the state education system. The Ministry of Education reviewed and approved 201 teams to be among the first group of “Huang Danian Type Faculty Teams”. The Ministry of Education requested schools from all over the country to honor the “national university Huang Danian Faculty Teams” as examples in order to effectively promote team building of university faculties and to build high-quality, professional and innovation-oriented university faculty teams.
