In order to further strengthen the cooperation between China and Ukraine in such fields as frontier exploration, transformation of achievements, and exchange of talented professionals, and to jointly seek new opportunities for scientific and technological cooperation under the “Belt and Road” framework, the 4th China-Ukraine Science and Technology Forum (CUSTF) with the theme of “Innovative, Cooperation, Openness, and Sharing” was held at the HIT activity center from September 16th to 18th.

Vice Governor of Heilongjiang Province, Nie Yunling, Director of the Ukrainian National Research Foundation and Academician of the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences, Tetiana Prikhna, Executive Chairman of the Ukrainian Federation and Academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Technical Sciences, Kucan Yuri, and Chinese Executive Chairman and Vice President of HIT, Guo Bin, all attended the opening ceremony of the forum and delivered speeches. Nie Yunling met with Ukrainian experts prior to the opening ceremony.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Administration of Foreign Expert Affairs, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Academy of Technical Sciences sponsored the forum, and HIT acted as an organizer. More than 50 Ukrainian academicians, experts from aerospace, materials, electronics, energy and other fields, as well as over 200 experts and scholars from many domestic research institutions and universities attended the forum. After the opening ceremony, academicians and experts from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Academy of Technical Sciences, and the Kharkov State University of Ukraine made special reports for the conference.

The conference also established various sub-sessions covering aerospace technology, ship, ocean and energy power, basic scientific research, life sciences, materials science, electrical and electronic information engineering, and so on. During the three-day forum, experts and scholars from China and Ukraine conducted in-depth exchanges through group panels on cooperation in the exploration, innovation, and development of state-of-the-art fields such as aerospace, materials science, mechanical engineering, new energy, and electronic information, so as to write a new chapter in the development of China-Ukraine science and technology cooperation.

The China-Ukraine Science and Technology Forum (CUSTF) was established in June 2015 and has been successfully held for three consecutive sessions. It has built an open platform for Chinese and Ukrainian scientists, in which academic exchange serves as the medium for talented individuals to communicate with each other and seek precise cooperation in science and technology. It has efficiently promoted the performance of the project, as well as the friendship between peoples from two countries.

Zhang Changbin, Director of the Provincial Science and Technology Department in Heilongjiang Province, and He Yanchun, Deputy Director of the Provincial People's Department in Heilongjiang Province, attended the opening ceremony of the conference. The Chinese Executive Chairman of the General Assembly and Foreign Academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Technical Sciences, Professor Qiu Jinghui, hosted the meeting.
