From September 25th to 27th, the “Memory of Flowers” International Volunteer Camp of ASRTU Youths was successfully held in Harbin. The Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU) sponsored the camp, and it was co-organized by HIT and Pacific National University.
The theme of the event was "Learning from history for peace; advancing together for the future." A total of 150 faculty and students from China and Russia participated in the camp. A series of activities was held, including the Sino-Russian Youth Forum for the Victory of the World Anti-Fascist War, the sweeping ceremony at the Memorial to the Red Army Martyrs of the Soviet Union, a visit to the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation Museum, and the Sino-Russian Youth "Red Soul" cultural show. Through these activities, the young people of the two countries reviewed the history of the Anti-Fascist War and remembered the revolutionary martyrs. In this way, they could enhance their patriotic consciousness and pass on the great cause of friendship between China and Russia to future generations.
Since 2013, HIT and Pacific National University have co-organized the “Memory of Flowers” International Volunteer Camp of ASRTU Youths series under the framework of ASRTU. These activities have included the Sino-Russian Youth Forum, a World War II film series, the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japan and the World Anti-Fascist War photo tour, visits to Memorial Hall, the renovation of martyrs’ tombs, and the publishing of bilingual albums and other works in Chinese and Russian. In this way, the youths of these two countries can bear in mind the history, remember the martyrs, defend peace, and look to the future. Up to now, around ten thousand Chinese and Russian students have participated in the activity in different forms.
