On December 26, 2018, the 16th "Small Satellite Scholars Plan" Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Winter Exchange Camp opened in the activity center 301 of HIT. Guo Anqi, the Acting Director of the Liaison Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Liaoning, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Peng Yuankui, Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor of HIT, delivered a speech and awarded the camp flag to the exchange camp.
This exchange camp designed various activities such as a patriotism education base visit, a history, culture, and small satellite lecture series, a student exchange seminar, and an ice and snow culture experience. The event attracted 632 students from more than 30 schools, including Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, University of Macau, and Taiwan’s national Tsinghua University. Taiwan Soochow University teacher Liu Shangyi and the University of Hong Kong student Wong Wai-ping spoke at the opening ceremony.
In recent years, with the strong support of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Education, and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, exchange activities between HIT and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan have set up four platforms----a small satellite scholar program exchange camp, a Sino-Russian union of universities of engineering, a summer course study, and social service practice. By taking full advantage of our cooperation with Russia, highlighting the characteristics of HIT, and further deepening exchanges and cooperation with the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions, the scale of teacher-student exchanges has been continuously expanded and positive results have been achieved. In 2016 and 2017, in the "ten thousand people plan" held by the Ministry of Education for the exchanges with Hong Kong and Macao teachers and students, the number of HIT’s project implementation ranked first in the mainland colleges and universities. In 2018, more than 1,500 Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan teachers and students visited HIT, while 171 HIT students were sent to Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan for exchange and study.
