News In Brief, published February 15 in the journal Science (vol. 363, 6428), by the Harbin University of Technology News (by Wei Mingchuan ).In the form of photo news, the photos of the earth and moon taken by our school's “Longjiang No. 2” satellite micro CMOS camera were published, and the pictures were cooperated by “Wei Mingchuan, Hu Xuran, Tamil, Zhao Yuhao from Harbin Institute of Technology , Cees Bassa, Tammo Jan Dijkema, and Vanessa Moss from the Dutch radio observatory; and Reinhard Kuehn, a German radio enthusiast.
The “Longjiang No. 2” independently developed by the microsatellite team of our school was launched with the “Queqiao” relay star on May 21, 2018. At 22 o'clock on May 25,it successfully entered the orbit around the moon and became the world's first independent microsatellites that complete the transfer of the earth, the braking in the near month, and the moon flight. As a result, our school became the first university in the world to put spacecraft into orbit on the moon. The “Longjiang No. 2” carries the VHF/UHF communication module developed by the lilac student Weiner satellite team for amateur radio communication test, backup measurement and control, etc. This is the first international amateur radio communication test on the lunar orbit. At the same time, the UV communication module has a built-in miniature CMOS camera for space photography.
Our school has been committed to international exchanges and cooperation in the field of space. “Longjiang No. 2” has also received worldwide attention. Radio enthusiasts all over the world, through the VHF/UHF amateur frequency band, have obtained a large number of moon-capture photos and images of Mars and Capricorn, the moon and the sea area. The photo of the moon in the "Science" magazine is the completion of the download and transmission of the Harbin Institute of Micro-satellite team in conjunction with the Dutch and German radio enthusiasts.
In addition, on February 8th, the Xinhua News Agency WeChat public account titled “The Earth and the Moon! The Chinese Satellite Photographed the New Year”, introduced the "perfect" picture of moon and earth framed by the “Longjiang” reported by the British “Independent”, and said that “this is probably the best photo of the earth and the moon so far.” It is worth mentioning that the “Longjiang No. 2”is also equipped with a miniature optical camera developed by King Abdul Aziz Technology City of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is also a powerful measure by the Heilongjiang Provincial Government and Harbin Institute of Technology to help the “Belt and Road Initiative” with practical actions.
