On August 3, Liu Yongtan donated all the 8 million yuan prize to Harbin Institute of Technology to set up the Yongrui fund, aiming to focus on the field of national defense and electronic engineering and help the university cultivate more outstanding talents.
Liu Yongtan, winner of the 2018 State Preeminent Science and Technology Award, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and professor of Harbin Institute of Technology, said that " as an ordinary teacher and a scientific worker, I feel honored winning the State Preeminent Science and Technology Award. But this honor belongs not only to me, but also to my team, and to all the patriotic and dedicated intellectuals in this great era. At the moment of receiving the prize, I had the idea of donating it to repay my country and university, which got the unanimous support of my family.

Academician Liu Yongtan has set up a banner for all teachers and students to be promisingand diligent in their work and keep striving for excellence.
