HIT News (SHangYankai / text and photo)On the morning of Oct 28, the third doctoral degree conferment ceremony of 2020 was held at Room 301 of Activity Center on the main campus. Zhou Yu, President of HIT, straightened graduates’ tassels andsent a message to the 280 graduates who had recently received their doctoral degrees and took a group photo to commemorate the occasion.
On behalf of HIT, President Zhou Yu expressed her congratulations to the doctoral graduates who have successfully completed their studies, as well as his gratitude and respect to the supervisors who have been guiding the research of those students and to the friends and relatives who have been supporting those PhD students.
On the occasion of parting, PresidentZhou Yu put forward four hopes to encourage with all PhD graduates. Firstly, always follow your heart. Secondly, stand your ground. Thirdly, value your virtue. Finally, seek innovationand pursue excellence.
Assistant President Shen Yi presided over the ceremony and read out the Decision of Harbin Institute of Technology Academic Degrees Committee on Granting Doctor's Degree.
Wu Fan, a 2015-class doctoral student from the School of Astronautics, and Adela, a 2015-class doctoral student from the School of Civil Engineering, spoke one after another as representatives of graduates and overseas students. They shared their study experience and growth gains in HIT and expressed their gratitude for the hard training of their alma mater and their good expectation for the new strides of HIT in the new century.
Professor Xie Hui, doctoral supervisor of the School of Mechatronics Engineering, on behalf of all the supervisors, sent a parting blessing to the graduates. He hopes each student to keep in mind the motto of HIT, be honest and practical; inherit the spirit of HIT, be faithful and brave; adhere to the tradition of HIT, be innovative and aggressive.
Heads from relevant departments and schools, all doctoral graduates and teacher representatives attended the ceremony. Parents of doctoral graduates watched the ceremony via live webcast.
