Five Years International Construction of Harbin Institute of Technology

2020/12/09

Harbin Institute of Technology adheres to the strategy of “wide-ranging, substantial and deep-rooted exchanges”, holds hands with the whole world, deeply takes root in Northeast Asia, and continuously consolidates the leadingrole of Chinese universities in cooperation with Russia. Good neighbors, good friends and good partners of HIT are all over the world.

We have continued to expand our contacts. We have joined the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), the UK-China University Consortium on Engineering Education and Research, the University of the Arctic (UArctic), the Universities Alliance of the Silk Road, the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU). The influence of HIT in the science and technology forums at home and abroad has been continuously improved.

We have continued to establish substantial cooperative relationship with a number of world-class universities. The foundation laying ceremony of Sino-Russian Joint Campus was successfully held and three international science and technology cooperation bases of the Ministry of Science and Technology were added. The number of teachers and students studying abroad has continued to grow, and the number of China Scholarship Council (CSC) government-sent students to study abroad has ranked among the top universities in China. Two foreign teachers won the “Friendship Award” of the Chinese government.

We have continued to promote cooperation. We have initiated the “Russian-engineering” model of joint training of Chinese and Russian talents. The Belt and Road think tank International Master helps the construction of China, Mongolia and Russia economic corridor and the countries along the route. For the first time, we had been granted 4 international cooperation projects of CSC for the establishment of innovative talents. The attraction to high-level international students has continued to increase. The number of overseas postgraduate and doctoral students coming to China has increased by 62% compared with that in 2015.
