First educational cooperation program between HIT and BMSTU approved by the Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has recently issued a document to announce the approved Sino-foreign educational cooperation programs in the second half of 2020. An undergraduate program of Ecological Engineering of Environment, to be jointly run by Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and Bauman Moscow State Technical University (BMSTU), is one of them. It is the first educational cooperation program between HIT and a Russian university, marking important progress of HIT in the field of Sino-foreign educational cooperation. Altogether fifty-one approved educational cooperation programs with a bachelor’s degree or above were announced by the MOE, forty-six of which are undergraduate programs.

BMSTU and HIT are close partners in the field of education for many years. The preparation for this program was started in June 2020. Even in the face of the sudden epidemic, two universities have organized video promotion meetings for many times to repeatedly discuss the orientation of the educational cooperation, the design of training programs, the utilization of superior resources, and the sustainable development of the program. The two universities finalized an agreement an agreement on educational cooperation in September 2020. Aiming at unique and high-quality education, BMSTU and HIT will each play to their strengths in order to run the undergraduate program of Ecological Engineering of Environment. The purpose of this program is to cultivate top-notch innovative technical talents with excellent moral character, persistent belief, patriotism, innovative spirit, and international vision, as well as the ability of multi-dimensional knowledge structure and solving complex engineering problems in the field of Ecological Engineering of Environment. These talents can have lifelong learning ability and lead the future development to promote the construction of national ecological civilization. At the same time, the platform can also serve as a means for communication and exchange between two countries, which in return will help HIT to have access to international advanced educational concepts, and first-class foreign educational resources. It can also promote the professional development of the teaching staff, improve the overall teaching facilities in HIT, contributing to the construction of Sino-Russian joint campus on HIT’s part.

Founded in 1826, BMSTU, one of the leading scientific and technical universities in Russia, is also Russia’s oldest and most successful technical university. BMSTU has produced many world-renowned engineers and is also the leading university in the field of ecological and industrial safety. HIT and BMSTU have jointly initiated the establishment of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU) in 2011, and BMSTU has a permanent chair and a permanent secretariat for ASRTU of the Russian part.
