The 14th National Student Sports Games (NSSG), co-sponsored by the Ministry of education, the General Administration of Sport of China and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, and co-organized by the Department of Education of Shandong Province and the Qingdao Municipal People’s government, opened in Qingdao on July 12th. On July 17th, Zhang Jingqiang, a student from HIT who represented Heilongjiang Province, won the championship in the Long Jump of Men's University Group B, which was the first gold medal of the Heilongjiang Provincial Delegation in this National Student Sports Games.
There are 10 major events and 2 minor events in the games, including swimming, track and field, basketball, football, volleyball, table tennis, aerobics, martial arts, badminton, sailing, beach volleyball and rope skipping, which are divided into three groups: University Group A, University Group B and Middle School Group. A total of 33 teams participated in the games, with a total of about 7200 athletes.
In the competition, Zhang Jingqiang entered the last three rounds of trial jumps as the first, and won the gold medal with an excellent result of 7.78 meters in the last round. Zhang Jingqiang has made outstanding achievements in recent years. He has won the championship of the men's long jump in 2021 National Athletics Championships and the qualification competition of National Games, the championship of the men's long jump in the trial of 2018 FISU World University Games, and the runner-up of the men's long jump in 2019 National Indoor Athletics championships.
It is reported that the students of HIT have achieved good results in many competitions of the 14th National Student Sports Games, such as Men’s Javelin Group A, Men’s 1500m Group A, Men’s High Jump Group A, Men’s 4*400 Group B, Men's Triple Jump Group B, Men's 110m Hurdles Group B, Women’s 4*100 Group B, Women's Discus Throw Group A.
