The 2021 China Undergraduate Physics Experiment Competition (Innovation) was successfully concluded recently . Five HIT teams have won a total of four first prizes and one second prize, ranking among the top universities in China, which is also the best achievement since our participation in the event.
China Undergraduate Physics Experiment Competition (CUPEC) is a physics discipline competition for university students nationwide, jointly hosted by the National Demonstration Center for Experimental Education of Ministry of Education, the National Experimental Physics Educational Seminar for Colleges, and the National Experimental Physics Educational Seminar for Chinese Physical Society. CUPEC is divided into three categories, namely "innovative works in the category of the proposition", "innovative works of optional subjects" and "university student physics experiment lecture competition". This year’s competition was held online from September to November, including the preliminary round and the final round, which attracted a total of more than 1600 teams from about 500 colleges and universities nationwide.
Three HIT works have won the first prize for "innovative works in the category of the proposition": the work of “the rainbow & secondary rainbow design & reproduction” designed by Li Wenyu and Li Siwei from the School of Life Science and Technology, and Yang Xinyu from the School of Mechatronics Engineering under the guidance of Xin Li and Wang Yuxiao; the work of “an improved device for viscosity coefficient measurement based on Poiseuille’s law” designed by Shen Ruizhen, Luo Yihui and Han Yumeng from the School of Astronautics under the guidance by Liu Weilong and Lv Zhe; the work of “a shape-memory alloy self-drive” designed by Li Lei, Ren Ruipu and Li Junjie from the School of Physics under the guidance ofWei Bo and Wang Yuxiao.
In the "innovative works of optional subjects" category, the work of “the self-voicing guitar: amperometric excitation of strings” designed by Zhu Hao, Wei Yukai and Jiang Haotian from the School of Physics and supervised by Li Junqing and Lin Shan has obtained the first prize, ; the work of “a multi-functional sound velocity measurement system for gases” , designed by Ma Dianyun, Ji Jiaqing and Yang Zhiqing from the School of Physics and instructed by Lv Zhe and Zhang Yu, has won the second prize.
The CUPEC competition plays a key role in stimulating students' interest and potential in college physics experiment courses, cultivating students' innovative spirit and practical ability, and enhancing students ’ teamwork. It has provided a new way for HIT to continuously deepen its physics experiment teaching reform and to improve the quality of physics experiment teaching and training of innovative talents.
