In the "Cloud" ---A Start of Online Graduation Practice


HIT News (School of Environment text/picture)During the period of epidemic prevention and control, the traditional practical teaching in colleges and universities is facing great challenges. In order to realize the "suspension of classes but non-stop learning" of graduation practice, under the unified arrangement of the School of Undergraduate, the School of Environment's Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering majorhas formulated a new cloud-based graduation practice mode. This new form of graduation practiceincludes virtual simulation platform, online guidance of design experts, recorded/live broadcast of water plant operation, interpretation of cloud-basedindustry development and other units. At the meantime, the School has launched an online graduation practice course for Grade 2016 undergraduates majoring in Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering from May 4 to 15.

It is understood that the graduation practice was organized by Qi Jingyao, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Environment, and Professor Nan Jun, vice-president of teaching. Professor Zhong Dan, head of the Municipal Engineering Department, led the internship, and teachers including GaoJinliang, Ma Wencheng and Tang Xiaobin participated in the internship. All the parts working together have formed the working idea of "turning difficulties into opportunities, expanding the practice teaching mode in multiple dimensions".

Gathering alumni to build a cloud classroom for graduation practice

Under the coordination of alumni of Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering, this internship invited domestic and foreign industry experts to give cloud lectures for students. These experts are Professor Yang Gong, Technical Director of Southern Water Company, Professor Shang Qinghai, Chief Engineer of Heilongjiang Institute of Urban Planning, Survey and Design, Professor KuangJie, Chief Engineer of China Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., Yao Kuowei, Chief Engineer of Jinan Municipal Engineering Design and Research Institute (Group) Co., Ltd., Professor Yang Honghong and Professor Yuan Yixing of the Municipal Department of our school.

The course adopts the combination of engineering cases and design drawings to teach water supply and drainage special planning, routine design of pipe network and water plant, comparison and selection of deep purification processes and other aspects, aiming at expanding students' professional vision, deepening students' professional understanding,analyzing design points and standardizing design steps. In the communication part, the teachers answered the graduation design questions raised by the students in detail.


From 2D to 3D, an immersion experience of the water plant operation

In order to make up for the lack of engagement during cloud practice, the course relies on the platform of the National Virtual Simulation Experiment Teaching Center of the School of Environment, and introduces 3D virtual simulation software for urban water supply/sewage treatment in the practice, so that students can fully perceive the details of the overall process of the water plant, the arrangement of treatment units, the internal and external structures of structuresfrom the first perspective.In the course, students can actively set equipment parameters, carry out unit control and process joint control, so as to obtain the target water quality under steady operation. All of these greatly improve students' participation and sense of experience,realizing students' visual interpretation of professional knowledge and design drawings.


From plane to stereo, BIM technical drawing training

In order to meet the development trend of industry and to enhance the professional competitiveness of graduates, the course invited Han Dezhi, director of the Digital Center and senior engineer of Beijing Urban Construction Design Development Group Co., Ltd., to give a detailed explanation on the development process, standards and applications of BIM, and to demonstrate the great advantages of BIM in the professional design and construction work through actual cases.Zou Hongyun, the company's BIM trainer and senior engineer, also started from the template setting and explained the BIM drawing method of water supply and drainage drawings to the students step by step, pointing out the common misunderstandings of BIM beginners.


Recorded and live broadcast of the water plant helps narrow the distance

The course also relies on the existing practice bases and the cooperative production-learning-research enterprisesto realize the diversified expansion of cloud practice in water plants.Traditional on-site practice teaching is limited by the professional background of enterprise experts, on-site environmental interference and the limitation of visiting perspective. It is difficult to ensure that every student can hear and understand the teaching content clearly. In addition, due to the constraints of enterprise safety regulations, it is difficult for traditional practice students to realize close observation of all units, while cloud practice can effectively make up for these defects.

The keynote speaker of the enterprise uses digital cameras, unmanned aerial vehicles and other camera equipment to record videos in all directions, supplemented by on-site commentary, dubbing subtitles, live commentary and other methods to achieve full coverage of water plant process visits.In addition, introducing the cooperative production-learning-researchenterprises into practice can further expand the professional vision of students, and the instructor can also answer questions for students in real time.

The cloud-based practice water plants include: Harbin ZhushunTun Water Intake Plant----Water Intake and Pumping Station, analysis of special water regime and safe operation strategy of water intake structures, water quality emergencies, and activated carbon dosing emergency system.DongyingNanjiaoWater Purification Plant, the first large-scale submerged ultrafiltration membrane water plant in China, won the national innovation achievement award. Jinan Water Group Quehua Water Purification Plant, Jinan's benchmark drinking water demonstration base and 11th Five-Year Demonstration Project, won the "Luban Award" for national engineering construction.West WaterSource Water Plant of Daqing Oilfield Water Company ---- representative underground water source water purification plant.Zhejiang Shaoxing Riverside Sewage Treatment Plant-Shaoxing Environmental Protection Education Base, the "garden" water plant with the largest ozone application scale in China, and the centralized sewage treatment plant in printing and dyeing industrial park.ChifengDerun Drainage Co., Ltd., a typical case of combining foreign classic processes with the actual needs of domestic sewage treatment, has a complete sewage recycling system.Harbin Lilin Environmental Protection Water Treatment Co., Ltd.---the upgrading and reconstruction of sewage treatment plant, construction site live online.

The course takes students as the center, constructs a real-time feedback system for teaching effects, and improves the multi-level quality assurance system for the whole process of practice of "supervising experts, guiding teachers and teaching assistants".In order to ensure the quality, based on the principle of "combining teaching with evaluation" and guided by the evaluation of students and alumni, the teaching team conducts multi-platform real-time communication,sorting out problems in time and dynamically adjusting the teaching plan.
