Recently HIT professor Leng Jinsong was invited to the European Academy of Sciences and arts in Salzburg, Austria. Here he was honored at the annual awards ceremony as a newly elected Academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
The European Academy of Sciences and Arts is an interdisciplinary academic organization based in Salzburg, Austria, covering the humanities, medicine, arts, natural sciences, social sciences, law and economics, technology and environmental sciences. It focuses on discussing current research issues in different disciplines and cultures, as well as promoting cross-border dialogues and exchanges in Europe. To date, the Institute has more than 2,000 academicians, of which 31 are Nobel Prize winners. This is the highest proportion of Nobel Prize winning academicians from any of the world’s Academy of Sciences. It is interesting to note that only about 10% of academicians are from non-EU countries. In 2017, 84 scientists from all over the world were elected as new academicians.
Leng Jinsong is a professor and doctoral tutor of the Institute of Composite Materials and Structures of the School of Astronautics. He is a distinguished professor with the Changjiang Scholarship from the Ministry of Education, a winner of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, and one of the first leaders of scientific and technological innovation in the “Manpower Plan” of the Central Organization Department. He was selected as a candidate for the Talented Person Project. He is currently serving as Vice Chairman of the International Composites Committee and Vice Chairman of the China Society for Composite Materials. He was elected as an SPIE Fellow in 2010; IOP Fellow of the British Physical Society in 2011 and ICCM World Fellow in 2017.
