On January 13, the Inaugural Ceremony of the Perceptive Intelligence Research Center and the Cognitive Intelligence Research Center of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory was held in Room[LM1] 308, HIT Science Park. Lang Xianbo, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Heilongjiang Province, attended and addressed the meeting participants. Shen Yi, Assistant President, attended the meeting and inaugurated the two newly established research centers.
Lang Xianbo, on behalf of the Department of Science and Technology of Heilongjiang Province, extended congratulations on the establishment of the two centers of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of HIT. He said that Harbin Institute of Technology is reaching the leading level in many fields, from aerospace to satellites, both at home and abroad, and has made great contributions to the economic development and social construction of Heilongjiang. He also expressed his expectation that Harbin Institute of Technology, with its early start, large number of talents, and huge influence in its study of AI, can establish and develop, with the two research centers, its own innovation road of artificial intelligence.
Shen Yi said in his speech that as early as the 1950s, HIT began research on artificial intelligence, coinciding with initial interest world-wide. Over the past few decades, HIT has cultivated a group of outstanding talents studying AI and achieved a number of excellent results in various fields. At present, with the advent and adoption of AI, we are experiencing the Fourth Technological Revolution, and this revolution will usher in a new era of perception, interconnection, and intelligence. He also added that he hopes all the experts, scholars, and industry leaders will take this ceremony as an opportunity for further thinking, greater innovation and development, and more exchange and cooperation, creating a bright future for the artificial intelligence research of HIT.
During the meeting, both Sun Maosong, Executive Vice President of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Tsinghua University, and Liu Yunxin, Chief Researcher of Microsoft Research, delivered speeches on behalf of the guests. Liu Jie, Dean of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and Director of the Perceptive Intelligence Research Center, made a general introduction of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, as well as the Perceptive Intelligence Research Center. Liu Ting, Vice Dean of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and Director of the Cognitive Intelligence Research Center, made a general introduction of the Cognitive Intelligence Research Center.
Qin Bing, professor of the School of Computer Science and Technology, chaired the meeting. A total of more than 40 people attended this meeting, including professors from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Fudan University, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as researchers from Huawei, Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, iFLYTEK, and other enterprises.
