By following a four-pronged approach of stability, recruitment, training, and evaluation and relying on the four talent levers: platforms that attract, careers that develop, rewards that retain, and a culture that inspires, it has assembled a faculty renowned as the "800 heroes". There are 23 full-time academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 434 selected national high-level talents, 448 young national talents, 12 innovation teams under the Ministry of Education, nine innovative research groups funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and six key-field innovation teams under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
