I. Program Introduction
To deepen the academic friendship and mutual understanding between Chinese and international youth, and to build a platform for international exchange and cooperation among young talent, the China Scholarship Council (CSC) has established the China Link Scholarship Program for international students and faculty members hoping to engage in academic and research activities in China. Appendix 1 contains a detailed introduction to the program.
II. Program Mechanism
1. Funding Categories
General Scholar: Applicable to enrolled undergraduates or master students
Senior Scholar: Applicable to enrolled doctoral degree students or faculties
2. Duration: 1-12 months. Arrival in China no later than Aug 31, 2025
3. Teaching Language: English or Chinese
4. Study/Research Fields: All disciplines other than Chinese language study
III. Funding
Successful applicants will receive a full scholarship from CSC during their stay in China, including tuition, on-campus accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance, and a monthly stipend (CNY 3,000 for general scholars; CNY 3,500 for senior scholars).
IV. Eligibility
1. Be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, have good moral character and academic excellence, and be in good health, both mentally and physically.
2. Be under 45 years old when applying for general scholarships.
Be under 50 years old when applying for senior scholars.
3. Be registered as a full-time student or employed as a full-time academic staff at the CSC’s foreign partner universities at the time of application and throughout their proposed stay in China. Appendix 2 lists the CSC's foreign partner universities.
4. Have received either a pre-admission letter or an invitation letter issued by HIT.
V. Application Documents
1. Passport information page: Applicants must submit a clear scanned copy of his/her ordinary valid passport.
2. Certificate of highest education: Please upload a school or employment letter from the current foreign university.
3. Transcripts of highest education
4. Study plan: Personal statement or research proposal in Chinese or English, at least 500 words.
5. Physical examination record for foreigners: Applicants planning to stay in China for over six months must submit a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English or Chinese. Applicants staying in China for less than six months can upload a personal health statement instead.
6. Non-criminal records report: Applicants planning to stay in China for more than six months must submit a photocopy of the non-criminal records report issued by the public authority at their current residency. Applicants staying in China for less than six months can upload a non-criminal records statement.
7. Pre-admission letter: A pre-admission document or an invitation letter issued by HIT (optional)
8. Papers or articles published (optional)
9. Language proficiency certificate (optional)
10. Other supporting documents (optional)
VI. Application Procedure
1. Applicants should apply for pre-admission documents or invitations from HIT.
2. Applicants should log into the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login) to complete the CSC online application and upload supporting documents. The HIT's Agency Number is 10213. Appendix 3 is the online application guide.
3. HIT's deadlines for nominating scholarship candidates to CSC are April 15, 2024; July 15, 2024; Oct 15, 2024; and Jan 15, 2025, which occur four times for this call.
4. Proposed dates for CSC to send scholarship admission results to HIT are May 15, 2024; Aug 15, 2024; Nov 15, 2024; and Feb 15, 2025, occurring four times for this call.
5. HIT will notify applicants of the scholarship admission results.
