The Shijian 26 satellite was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center and entered its designated orbit on May 29.
The satellite was jointly developed by the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), Aerospace Dongfanghong, a subsidiary of the China Academy of Space Technology, and the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
It is a low-Earth orbit optical remote sensing satellite designed primarily for land surveys, environmental monitoring, and other applications supporting national economic development.
To date, HIT has contributed to the successful development and launch of 36 satellites.
