On May 15, the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) launched its 9th Teaching Festival with the tagline "Upholding Integrity and Innovation: Advancing Talent Cultivation to the Forefront".
The festival features three major sections, focusing on education reform in the age of artificial intelligence. It aims to inspire deeper reflection on the future of education and explore new models and methods for talent development. Activities include academic discussions, the second "Big Ideological and Political Theory Class" Innovation Contest, and the recognition of outstanding teachers, teams, and students who have made notable contributions to teaching and learning.
A highlight of the event was the signing of a cooperation agreement between HIT and the University of Hong Kong (HKU). The agreement seeks to promote in-depth collaboration in talent development by sharing high-quality educational resources and jointly exploring innovative approaches to cultivating globally competitive talent.
HIT Vice President Shen Yi noted that HIT has made significant strides in aligning top-tier talent cultivation with national strategic needs, especially in supporting major scientific and technological initiatives.
He emphasized the need to build a new "AI+Education" ecosystem, utilizing intelligent platforms and personalized learning to enhance the quality of education. Shen encouraged faculty to serve not only as knowledge transmitters but also as catalysts for innovation, while students are expected to strengthen both their professional foundations and their critical thinking skills.
HIT Vice President Shuai Yong delivered a keynote titled "Connecting Minds Globally, Shaping Future Talent: Advancing Internationalization in Education", highlighting HIT's progress in international partnerships, collaborative programs, and global talent development initiatives, including expanded cooperation with universities in Hong Kong.
Lu Yang, associate dean of the Faculty of Engineering at HKU, shared the university's experiences in engineering education, faculty development, and talent cultivation, offering valuable insights into successful international education practices.
