A talent cultivation seminar was held between the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and Hong Kong universities on April 25 at the Shenzhen-Hong Kong International Science and Technology Park.
Attendees exchanged insights on innovative education models and higher education cooperation, reaching a consensus on strengthening joint student training programs, faculty exchanges, and collaborative scientific research initiatives.
Chen Jie, Chair of the HIT Council, hoped that the seminar would catalyze further cooperation in engineering, artificial intelligence, aerospace, and green low-carbon technologies.
He emphasized the importance of building a high-level, cross-regional, cross-disciplinary, and cross-cultural collaboration platform to support the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the vitalization of Northeast China.
HIT President Han Jiecai highlighted the university's commitment to exploring a distinct development path and noted the strong foundation for cooperation with Hong Kong universities.
He stated that the seminar represented a concrete step in advancing the Harbin Declaration of the World-Class Universities Annual Presidents Forum and called for deeper, mutually beneficial partnerships to promote high-quality development in higher education.
Professor Zhang Xiang, president of the University of Hong Kong, noted increasingly close ties between the two institutions in recent years, with fruitful outcomes in academic exchanges, joint research, and faculty-student visits. He hopes to deepen collaboration with HIT to cultivate more talent and contribute to China's advancement in education, science, and talent development.
