Chen Jie, Chair of the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) Council, led a delegation to visit Hong Kong from Aug 3 to 5.
Chen met with Zhou Ji, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, expressing gratitude for the office's long-standing attention and strong support for HIT and Hong Kong higher education cooperation. He outlined HIT’s century-long history, recent achievements, and collaborations with Hong Kong universities.
Chen visited the University of Hong Kong (HKU), the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), holding in-depth discussions on deepening strategic cooperation, advancing joint education programs, strengthening collaborative research in key disciplines, and expanding personnel exchanges.
Agreements signed during the visit included the HIT–HKU Cooperation and Exchange Agreement and the HIT–CUHK Academic Exchange Agreement. Chen also witnessed the signing of agreements between HIT's Undergraduate School and CUHK's Faculty of Engineering, HIT's School of Astronautics and CUHK's Summer School, and HIT and PolyU, further consolidating strategic partnerships.
Chen also attended the HIT Hong Kong Alumni Forum, sharing the university's latest progress and reaffirming HIT's commitment to supporting alumni development and fostering shared growth. At the 2025 Young Scholars Exchange Conference (Hong Kong), he presented HIT's achievements, advanced facilities, and talent policies to participating young scholars.
