Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) welcomed more than 1,700 students, 10 academicians, and 100 leading scholars from around the world this summer to its International Summer School, creating an exciting platform for cross-border and cross-disciplinary exchanges.
The 2025 program featured 22 specialized projects, spanning artificial intelligence, aerospace, electronic information, biomedicine, and new materials.
Participants came from top universities, including Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University, St. Petersburg State University in Russia, Yonsei University in South Korea, and the Technical University of Madrid in Spain.
This year, HIT launched several joint summer schools with partner institutions. HIT's School of Astronautics, School of Architecture and Design, and School of Energy Science and Engineering teamed up with Zhejiang University, Tongji University, City University of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to run programs such as "Mechanics Exploration and Future Aerospace Vehicles", "Imprints: Twin Cities", and "Smart Low-Carbon Energy and Aerospace Propulsion". These initiatives built cross-regional and interdisciplinary platforms for academic collaboration and frontier research.
The "Chemistry Empowering Life and Health" project at HIT's School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering invited Andrey Rempel, an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and a professor at Ural Federal University, to share his research on photocatalytic applications of titanium dioxide, offering students innovative perspectives for future exploration.
Since its launch in 2016, HIT has hosted the summer school for nine consecutive years, building a bridge for in-depth academic dialogue, cultural exchanges, and mutual learning among students worldwide. The summer school has grown from just two pilot programs to 22, hosting a total of 87 projects and attracting nearly 7,000 students.
