Representatives from 31 universities gathered at the international campus of Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) on Nov 6 to attend a specialized meeting organized by the Ministry of Education on enhancing the quality and efficiency of Sino-foreign cooperative education.
Ren Youqun, a member of the Ministry of Education's Party Leadership Group and vice-minister of the Ministry of Education, attended the meeting to conduct research and hold discussions on HIT's international exchange and cooperation efforts.
Xu Xiangguo, a member of the Standing Committee and secretary-general of the Heilongjiang Provincial Committee, and Zhang Qixiang, vice-governor of Heilongjiang province, welcomed Ren Youqun and his delegation. The meeting was attended by provincial officials, HIT leaders, and representatives from 31 universities, including Zhu Xinkai, executive vice-president of Renmin University of China.

Representatives from 31 universities attended the specialized meeting. HIT, along with Peking University, Tsinghua University, and eight other universities, shared their experiences in Sino-foreign cooperative education and discussed future initiatives.
Ren emphasized in his speech that universities should implement the spirit of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, seize development opportunities, make effective use of policies, and explore innovative models of Sino-foreign cooperative education to establish more exemplary projects. The Ministry of Education will continue to vigorously advance reforms in cooperative education, providing better policy support and educational environments for universities.
Chen Dali, deputy director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange at the Ministry of Education, stated that HIT prioritizes internationalization as a key component of its development strategy. He emphasized the use of high-level Sino-foreign cooperative education as a driving force andhighlighted the exemplary role the university has played. The Department of International Cooperation and Exchange will provide policy support and a favorable educational environment for universities managed by the central government.
Xu Zhenyu, Party secretary and director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Education, expressed that the department will support HIT in achieving new breakthroughs in international exchange and cooperation. The department will also promote provincial universities' active involvement in education reform to enhance the quality and efficiency of Sino-foreign cooperative education, foster stronger ties with universities under central management, expanding practical cooperation, and contribute to national strategies and the development of a strong educational nation.
Chen Jie, Party secretary of HIT, and Han Jiecai, president of HIT, stated that the university regards high-level cooperative education as a key driver for advancing Double First-Class construction and the integrated reform of education, science, and technology talent. They emphasized deepening practical cooperation with the world's leading universities and promoting the introduction, absorption, and integration of quality educational resources.
