Sun Xue, vice-president of Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), led a delegation to Greece and Serbia from Dec 15 to 20.
In Greece, the delegation held discussions with representatives from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (University of Athens, UoA), National Technical University of Athens, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the Center for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH). They signed an exchange cooperation agreement with UoA and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Chemical Process and Energy Resources Institute (CPERI) at CERTH. They also inaugurated the HIT-CPERI International Collaboration for Energy and Environment.

In Serbia, Sun and the delegation met with Dragan Glamocic, minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management; Marija Gnjatovic, state secretary of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation; and Darija Kisic, director of the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia. They explored ways for HIT to support local agricultural modernization and signed an MoU with the Science Fund. Sun also presented a certificate of appointment to Nenad Filipovic, a former director of the Science Fund and professor at the University of Kragujevac, as an advisory professor at HIT.

During the visit, Sun and the delegation signed MOUs with the Institute Mihajlo Pupin and the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) Serbia Office. They also witnessed the unveiling of the China-Serbia Aerospace Technology Joint Innovation Center, a collaborative initiative between HIT and the Serbian Belt and Road Institute, and the HIT-CRBC Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Regional Joint Research Center for Intelligent Transportation. Sun also presented an appointment certificate to Bojan Lalic, director of Serbian Belt and Road Institute, appointing him as an advisory professor at HIT.

In meetings with Fang Qiu, Chinese Ambassador to Greece, and Li Ming, Chinese Ambassador to Serbia, Sun hoped for deeper cooperation in faculty and student exchanges between HIT and universities in Greece and Serbia, with the support of the embassies. Fang and Li assured their full support for collaborations between HIT and universities in Greece and Serbia.
