Jan 17, 2026

A creative lighting installation, designed and constructed by faculty and students from the School of Architecture and Design at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), has been installed on Pedestrian Zhongyang Street.

The project was led by HIT Associate Professor Guo Qi, with guidance from HIT professors Yu Yang and Lu Shiliang. Over 10 master's students majoring in landscape architecture and architecture at HIT completed the entire process – from design conception to construction and lighting – in just 97 days. The project comprises six themed lighting installations along the main street of Pedestrian Zhongyang Street.

In addition to the six main installations, HIT faculty and students implemented several romantic lighting modifications to align with the existing environment of Pedestrian Zhongyang Street.

The HIT team spent 97 days refining the project, conducting multiple rounds of case analysis, visiting three locations for on-site research, and making more than 100 adjustments to their plans.
