A delegation led by Professor Lin Yifu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, deputy director of its Economic Affairs Committee, and dean of the Institute of New Structural Economics at Peking University, visited Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) on May 7 for research and academic exchanges.

Lin said that HIT has contributed to China's development priorities and has played an important role in supporting major national strategies and advancing scientific and technological innovation. He noted that HIT has strong expertise in mathematics and a dynamic research environment, providing a solid foundation for future collaboration between the two sides. He expressed hope that the two sides would deepen cooperation by poling their strength in mathematics, humanities and social sciences, and control science to pursue major foundational research projects and produce more original achievements with global influence.
Chen and Han said that Professor Lin, as a leading economist in China, has used modern economic research methods to better understand China's development and transformation while advancing theoretical innovation, contributing valuable insights into Chinese modernization and high-quality development. They expressed hope that the exchange would open up new avenues for interdisciplinary collaboration, support HIT's continued progress toward becoming a leading world-class university with distinctive Chinese and HIT characteristics, and jointly provide high-level and strategic intellectual support for national development.

During the visit, Lin delivered a lecture titled China's Economic Prospects and Global Significance Amid Accelerating Changes Unseen in a Century. He also held discussions with faculty representatives from HIT's Institute of Mathematics, School of Management, Business School, and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The delegation also visited the HIT Museum, International Campus, Institute of Mathematics, and School of Management.
