The 2026 CSC Alumni Event International Scholars Exchange on Advanced Materials and Complex Systems was recently held at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), sponsored by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and hosted by HIT.
More than 100 representatives, including experts, scholars, and CSC alumni from universities and research institutions both domestically and abroad gathered to engage in in-depth discussions and exchanges on topics including advanced materials and intelligent manufacturing, biomechanics and healthcare, artificial intelligence and interdisciplinary frontiers, as well as the professional development of early-career researchers. HIT Vice-President Liu Jian attended the event and delivered a speech, while Academician Li Hui addressed the audience via video.

Liu thanked the China Scholarship Council for its strong support for the event and shared HIT's recent progress in serving major national strategic needs and transforming itself into a world-class university. He expressed hope that the event would bring together innovative resources from home and abroad, promote multidisciplinary collaboration and innovation, and help accelerate high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and cultivate new quality productive forces.

Academician Li noted that the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation urgently requires deep interdisciplinary integration. She emphasized that this event, leveraging CSC alumni exchanges as a bridge, builds a high-level academic exchange platform to jointly promote deep cross-disciplinary integration and innovative development in the fields of advanced materials and complex systems.

Professor Dragan Damjanovic from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Professor Chen Xiangming from Zhejiang University, Professor Chen Yuli from Beihang University, Professor Zheng Zhigang from Huaqiao University, Professor Dai Jiyan from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Professor Tian Ye from Harbin Medical University, Professors Li Bo and Lyu Ruitao from Tsinghua University, and Professor Jeong DaeYong from Inha University, South Korea, delivered plenary lectures on frontier issues in advanced materials and complex systems.
During the event, two high-level dialogue sessions were held. Experts and scholars from multiple universities and research institutions at home and abroad shared their experiences in study, research, and international collaboration, engaging in exchanges on topics such as how early-career scholars can choose research directions, conduct interdisciplinary cooperation, broaden international perspectives, and address research challenges.
