“Leading Scholars” Program
Aimed at the frontiers of the world science & technology, the main economic battlefield, major national needs, and people's life and health, it is focused on introducing a group of world-class scholars or national-level talents based on the needs of disciplinary development.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Сompliance with the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China, possession of good scientific ethics, and conscious practicing of the spirit of scientists in the new era.
2. In general, hold a doctoral degree.
3. Conducting innovative research and key technology research, achievement of high-level academic results and making outstanding contributions by achievements, with the ability or potential for leading and pioneering.
4. Carry out innovative and key technology research, achieve high-level academic results, make outstanding contributions, and demonstrate strong leadership or pioneering potential.
Respective Benefits or Remuneration
1. Appointed as a Chair Professor (Long-term) or granted a Tenured Position; and awarded the qualification of Doctoral Supervisor.
2. HIT will, in principle, provide the selected candidates with salary and benefits packages corresponding to their appointed positions, a new fully-furnished apartment, or a settlement allowance and monetary housing subsidy of equivalent value.
3. HIT will, in principle, provide the selected candidates with support in the form of a research start-up grant: for the Chair Professor (Long-term) / Tenured Position (Position I), it will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis. For the Tenured Position (Position II), it will range from 2 million yuan to 6 million yuan. For the Tenured Position (Position III), it will range from 1 million yuan to 4 million yuan.
4. HITwill actively assist the selected candidates in areas such as housing, children's school enrollment, and employment of spouses. The second-level institutions will, in accordance with actual development needs, create favorable working conditions for the selected candidates in terms of research premises, research conditions, and post-graduate students’ enrollment quotas.
